Hampton Bays, NY – The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) endorsed Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) for re-election in 2020.
“Congressman Lee Zeldin has been a strong supporter of construction workers on Long Island through his policy positions in Washington as well as local job creation,” stated Mason Tenders District Council PAC Director Mike McGuire. “He also played a critical role in securing $2 billion for Brookhaven National Lab, which will employ hundreds of local union construction workers over the next decade.”
This is a joint endorsement from the New York State Laborers’ PAC and Mason Tenders’ District Council PAC. Together, these two entities make up what is now LiUNA-NY, and represent more than 40,000 members across the state.
“LiUNA-NY appreciates Congressman Zeldin’s support of an all-of-the-above energy mix, which ensures good union jobs will continue to be used to help meet New York’s energy needs,” stated NYS Laborers PAC Executive Director John Hutchings. “Lee also successfully secured millions of dollars in local infrastructure funding through a fully funded five year highway bill, and has been a strong advocate for maintaining Davis Bacon wages on federal projects.”
“I am thrilled to once again have the endorsement of LIUNA,” said Congressman Zeldin. “The hard work we put into securing the $2 billion Electronic Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory will mean more good paying jobs for our local labor and a boost to our economy.”
