PATCHOGUE, NY – The New York Teamsters Joint Council 16 endorsed Congressman Lee Zeldin (R, NY-1) for re-election in 2020.
“Lee Zeldin remains a stalwart defender of our working men and women. In addition to his tireless efforts to create and maintain good paying jobs, Congressman Zeldin’s strong support of the Butch Lewis Act has been critical for the livelihood of our current and retired members and their families,” said George Miranda, President, Teamsters Joint Council 16.
The Teamsters represent workers in a wide range of industries, including freight, delivery, airlines, warehousing, manufacturing, construction, parking, public sector, and sanitation. Joint Council 16 represents 120,000 workers in New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley.
Congressman Zeldin is the only New York Congressional Republican endorsed by the New York Teamsters.
“The Teamsters endorsement tells me that we are on the right path when it comes to protecting our hardworking laborers here on Long Island,” said Congressman Zeldin. “I am thrilled to have their endorsement and even more happy that with the $2 billion Electron Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory, they will have good paying jobs for many years to come.”
